[Someone is knocking at Anders' door. Who could it be?]

[Hawke is lucky Anders is even there; he doesn't like his room too much, it makes him feel trapped. He much prefers wandering around the ship in search of anything familiar, no matter how futile it seems. Though he did manage to find a park where you could almost believe you were outside again.

Occasionally, of course, he returns. He needs a bed, for one. He doesn't eat there much (can't figure out how to cook), but leaving left-overs he's bought in the fridge is a concept that wasn't too hard to figure out. Which is why he's there now.

He's honestly not expecting the visitor to be for him, but he opens the door nonetheless.]

...Hawke. I wasn't expecting you.

[He hates how awkward their meetings have become, but what else can he do? He can't very well just stay away. Anders is too important to him to do that. Regardless of how Anders feels about him, Hawke will still seek him out. Until Anders actually tells him to go away...which he hasn't, yet. Which gives him hope.]

I wanted to see you. [Whoops, there's the awkwardness again.] You're not busy, are you? I can come back later...

I'm not.

[Anders steps aside to allow Hawke inside. Honestly, he doubts a single moment since he arrived could be considered 'busy'. It's more that he's passing time. He'd like something to do, and even considered opening a clinic again, but it seems even that isn't needed here. He'd dedicated his life to two things only, and they are now gone.

Maybe he'll have to get a job in a shop.]

I'm surprised you're not drunk. Did you run out of coins?

[He glances sharply at Anders at that question. Yes, Hawke enjoyed liquor and its effects as much as the next person, but he was fairly sure he didn't spend any more time drunk than your average man. Anders had certainly never commented on it before, in any case. Was this another difference between himself and the "Hawke" Anders knew?]

They never gave me any coins to begin with.

Besides, drinking is only fun with friends.

[...yes, he may be a bit low on credits, actually...]

[No, he just got the impression that Hawke was planning to deal with the situation by drinking it away, and Anders couldn't judge him for that. Justice could, but not Anders.]

It's easier to think of this strange... card as coins.

[He doesn't trust it. How is he supposed to know how much coin he has left, if it's not actually in his hand? He keeps forgetting how to use his Guide to check.

He walks into the room, sitting down on the couch. It feels less awkward than just standing around, and he expects Hawke to follow. The man knows how to make himself comfortable, he doubts that's changed even if his personality has.]

Then how have you been passing the time?

[read: please give him some pointers on how not to feel entirely lost.]

Fair enough.

[He'll follow Anders into the room and seat himself as well without being invited, much further from the other man than he would like, and makes himself comfortable, as expected.]

Exploring. Talking to people. Trying not to feel entirely lost.

[He shrugs. He has no pointers for Anders at this time, although if he did, he would happily share them.]

What about yourself?

I've been doing the same.

[he turns on the couch, leaning his arm over the backrest so he can face Hawke properly.]

I found a park. And a horse told me it's possible to visit a planet, which looks as if it might be similar to Thedas. There was grass, at least.

[yes, please ignore the horse part. It was purple. He's still not sure if he imagined things.]

...A horse told you.

[Sorry, Anders. He can't.]

I didn't realize they came in purple.

[He pauses to consider this.]

I guess it's not as strange as some of the other things here, though.

[He stretches, leaning back and draping both arms over the back of the couch, and rests his head against the cushion to stare at the ceiling.]

I'd like to go down, I think. Even in Darktown there were places you could go to see the sky.

[The giant viewing windows that look out onto the vast emptiness of space...really aren't the same. At all.]

I prefer a talking horse over creatures that look like abominations.

[read: vogons, and some of the tentacled ladies you see around. It's still difficult not to attack them on sight, although none of them are attacking people, at least.

He nods at the suggestion.]

I miss the sky. I tried looking out one of the large windows, but I couldn't find a single constellation I recognised. And it's always night time outside, did you notice?

Yes, exactly.

[He tilts his head toward Anders, not lifting it from where it rests on the back of the couch, aiming a rueful smile in the other man's direction.]

I have, yes. It's more unsettling than it is pretty, if you look at it for too long.

[stop being so irresistibly handsome, Hawke.]

I felt as if I might fall in.

[unsettling is a bit of an understatement, in his opinion.]

If you'd like to visit the planet, I can probably explain how to get there.

[No!]

...What, aren't you going to come with me?

[He will rebuild their relationship from scratch if he has to drag Anders along kicking and screaming, so help him...!]

[...well, maybe not if Anders is that against it. But Hawke is sure going to try!]

I suppose I'm still not used to the idea that you'd want me along.

[even if Hawke did come to visit him this time. And as far as he can tell, he just wants to talk!]

[He holds Anders' gaze quietly, waiting for his verdict, and smiles a little when he finally speaks.]

Get used to it, then.

Out of everything here, that, at least, I don't mind.

Good. I'm glad to hear it.

[And relieved. Very relieved.]

When shall we go?

How about tomorrow?

[he sees no reason to wait, at least. Actually, he wouldn't mind going right now, but--]

Should we let everyone else know as well?

Tomorrow sounds great.

[And then Anders says that...although he supposes it could be taken a couple of different ways. Nathaniel, and possibly Marian, he might want along, but Hawke somehow doubts he means for Fenris to join them. Perhaps he means 'let the others know' as a precautionary measure - "Hey, this is where we'll be, if you don't hear from us again, you'll know what happened," sort of thing.]

That's probably a good idea.

[it wasn't exactly meant as a question; he assumed Hawke wants them along as well. And Hawke is right in that he'd like to have Nathaniel along.]

I'll talk to Nathaniel.

[Hawke can do what he wants with the others.]

I'll mention it to Marian.

[All in all, he supposes it's probably a bit too early to hope for outings involving just the two of them. He'll just have to be sure to visit Anders a lot on other occasions, then.]

[THIS IS SO BIZARRE.]

Swimmingly. It's a bit uncanny if I spend too long thinking about it, though.

[Hawke always did have a gift for understatement...]
